History

The Indiana Tobacco Prevention Use and Cessation Board was created through the funds generated by the Master Settlement Agreement between 46 state Attorneys General and the tobacco industry, and by legislation enacted by the Second Regular Session 111th General Assembly.

Indiana Tobacco Prevention and Cessation (ITPC) is responsible for developing programs to prevent and reduce the usage of tobacco and tobacco products in Indiana by utilizing best practices for tobacco control programs developed by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Local organizations like Clark County Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Coalition participate in a competitive grant application process to obtain funding through ITPC for local programs.  Clark Memorial Hospital serves as the fiscal agent for CCTPCC.
